Let’s talk weddings
The wedding blog
What have I been doing recently? Looking for Wedding Inspo? Need some wedding advice? Well read some of my blogs to find out...
Ashleigh and Rebecca's Pre-Shoot at Palé Hall, Bala.
I love doing pre-shoots. There is absolutely no pressure on anyone and they always involve a lovely cup of coffee somewhere nice. So when I got in contact with Ashleigh to arrange their pre-shoot and he said “why not do it at the venue of our wedding, so we can have a good walk around and familiarise ourselves?'“ I said “why not!” I’d never been to Palé Hall, near to Bala, North Wales, so I was up for it.
Amber and James' Couples Shoot at Formby Beach
I love photographing couples. I just love it. After weddings they are the best thing to do and I can never get enough of them. If I get a chance to shoot a good looking couple at a gorgeous location, well I am going to jump at it.
Steve and Claire's 'Finally' Wedding At The Mytton & Mermaid, Shrewsbury...
Some people are meant to be together, thats’s a cliche, I know, but it’s also a fact. And no one more than Claire and Steve. I met them back in March to discuss their April Wedding - and they told me that they’d been married before - to each other and had split, but were back together and were together forever now…and wanted to make it official and get married again.
Mike and Abi's Autumn Wedding at East Riddlestone Hall.
Ask almost any photographer and they will tell you that Autumn is probably their favourite season - and I would certainly be part of those saying it! The colours! It’s all down to the colours you see! And then if you are lucky enough to get a wedding in autumn you are laughing, but then…if the wedding has a graphic designer involved in it then you know you are going to get a visually stunning wedding - and I was that lucky photographer!
Lucy and Vebjorn's DIY Wedding in the Malverns.
When you hear that you are going to be doing a wedding in a Village Hall - it can go one of two ways…and thankfully Lucy and Vebjorn’s wedding was a prime example of how to do it right! It was very much of a Do It Yourself wedding, with a lot of homemade and environmentally-friendly elements.
Vebjorn and Lucy's Sneak Peak...
Vebjorn and Lucy met 4 years ago at University in Edinburgh. And they were quickly hooked on each other. The love between them was easy to spot in what was an absolutely amazing wedding in the beauty of the Malvern Hills this weekend.
Oliver and Juliane's Mega-Pre-Shoot by Ullswater, Lake District.
I love doing wedding pre-shoots. I love them ‘cos you learn so much about a couple from them. After probably a year of emails, phone calls, Skyping - it’s sometimes the first time I actually meet a couple. And I think it’s really important so that I can figure out how they are going to be in front of the camera, and they can figure out what I am going to be like behind the camera.
Earth Florists Styled Shoot - Wirral - 22 May 2019
Styled Shoots are always fun. They are a great way of spending an afternoon with beautiful people and network with likeminded wedding suppliers. And you get to try something new in a safe environment without worrying that you are under pressure on a bride’s special day.
What happens if it rains...?
One of the questions most often asked by brides-to-be is the big one…”What happens to our pictures if it rains?” Well, don’t worry, no matter what your venue we will always get some spectacular pictures of your special day…and I recently spent a day learning from the master of flash, some techniques to see how to look for creative flash photography for inside a venue
Punky Bride Styled Shoot, Oswestry Shropshire
I was given a wedding dress about a year ago, and I didn’t really know what to do with it - it certainly wouldn’t fit me! - until I realised it might fit Sam - a model from Oswestry who has an alternative look. Bright hair, tats, great outfits - she had the look that would counterpoint the traditional style of the dress with an alternative and modern twist.
Hayley and Tom's Beautiful Pimhill Barn Wedding, Shrewsbury.
Much can be said about a Barn Wedding, and much will be said by all those who attended Hayley and Tom’s big day at Pimhill Barm, Shrewsbury. Those words will include ‘beautiful’ ‘amazing’ ‘fun-filled’ ‘boozy’ and ‘best day ever’. And if they aren’t including any of those, well they are going to use words that are very, very similar!
Hayley and Tom's Pre-Shoot at Haughmond Abbey, Shrewsbury.
So on perhaps the warmest windy day ever - a day in which I returned home from this shoot to find half the tree in my front garden had fallen down - I met up with Hayley and Tom for their wedding pre-shoot at the beautiful Haughmond Abbey, just outside Shrewsbury.
Martin and Clare's Pre-Shoot in Delamere Forest.
One of the best things about being a Shropshire Wedding Photographer is being able to meet new people and go to new places. Yesterday was such a day when I could do both! Martin and Clare are due to get married in October at the Richmond in Liverpool - a really urban hotel in the centre of the city - so for their wedding pre-shoot we decided to go back to nature and visit a favourite spot of theirs - Delamere Forest.
Kirsty and Jordan's sunshine day at Albrighton Hall, Shrewsbury
The very best way to get a booking as a Shropshire Wedding Photographer is by personal recommendation, and I was lucky enough to get the booking to cover Kirsty and Jordan's short but ever so sweet wedding, from a recommendation by Ceri, a previous bride.
