Mike and Abi's Autumn Wedding at East Riddlestone Hall.
Ask almost any photographer and they will tell you that Autumn is probably their favourite season - and I would certainly be part of those saying it! The colours! It’s all down to the colours you see!
And then if you are lucky enough to get a wedding in autumn you are laughing, but then…if the wedding has a graphic designer involved in it then you know you are going to get a visually stunning wedding - and I was that lucky photographer!
Abi and Mike had chosen the gorgeous East Riddlestone Hall to be their wedding venue. It was a new venue for me, but that is never an issue as I like to arrive at locations a bit early and scope it all out. I always think that a recce of a site on days before the wedding is a bit pointless as weather and light can change so much from day to day; it’s best to do that sort of thing on the day of the wedding itself. Anyway, I met Mike there after spending the morning with Abi at a nearby hotel where she had was getting ready.
East Riddlestone Hall itself is a National Trust property, and is open when weddings are on, but the wedding is held in an absolutely stunning barn not far from the house, next the a gorgeous lake. Truly its a romantic setting for your big day. The best thing about it all is that the Bride and Groom get to have free rein to explore the site for their photographs! More of this later…and back to the barn…
Without doubt the most gorgeously decorated barn I have ever been in - fairy lights, LOVE letters, garlands, crates, all tied together with the same theme and colours. Thought had gone into everything and no detail was left undone.
The weather forecast was not good though and I was worried for the portrait shots later in the day, and it was raining heavily when I arrived to photograph the bridal prep. However as the morning went on, the rain eased, and by the time the ceremony started it was dry - and by the time the ceremony was over it was even drying up under foot - thankfully!
Anyway, it was a fabulous ceremony, with Larry the Dog in attendance to watch his ‘mum’ walk down the aisle to his ‘dad’ and there were few dry eyes when they said ‘I do’… The ceremony gave way to a gorgeous meal which blended into hilarious speeches and then a fabulous party!
Each wedding I photograph is a real treat for me, and this was no exception. A gorgeous couple, fabulous family, wonderful friends, brilliant location, great times…there must be some sort of mathematical calculation for working out just how amazing a wedding is going to be…but I was always rubbish at maths…I just take pictures.
Speaking of pictures, here’s Abi and Mike’s blog pictures!
