Evy and David's *finally* day at Broome Park, Kent
Kent, the garden of England! Honeymoon spot of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn. Hottest place ever recorded in Britain. Site of the utterly beautiful Broome Park.
An overcast morning exploded into sunshine just in time for my first outdoor ceremony of the year as Evy and David married at noon with some 80 or so of their family and friends watching. I had travelled down to Kent the night before with Cath, from CPD Film as videographer – a long way for this Shropshire Wedding Photographer – taking the sights of The Dartford crossing and rows of apple trees as we went south, ever south – so far south at one stage, I thought we were going to get wet wheels, but my Sat Nav brought us back on target and we were faced with the imposing red brick of Broome Park, Lord Kitchener’s former home.
This is a day that was four years in the making! Events bad and good caused the date to be pushed back…Bad - Covid, of course, stuck it’s oar in - several times - but then the frowns were turned upside down and a good reason to slide the date back being the happy arrival of a new baby, meaning that the guest list was increased by one person who tried to steal the day with her gorgeous smiles and giggles.
The wait was well worth it as manicured yew hedges and closely cut grass made way for the smiles and raucous laughter of both Evy and David AND their family as delicious food and a decent amount of drink was consumed throughout an utterly, utterly perfect day. Previous disappointments were left in the past as this family came together with good friends to celebrate in perfect style for Evy and David’s very special day…
