Tom and Mica's Gorgeous Day at Redhouse Barn, Bromsgrove. Shropshire Wedding Photographer
And I am back in the game. Covid might try, but people bounce back and they bounce back stronger and brighter than before…Tom and Mica should have been married last year, but…yadda yadda…anyway, they are married now, and they got married in style at the absolutely gorgeous Redhouse Barn rustic wedding venue near to Brosgrove.
May might have been a damp squib - what am I saying, it was the wettest May since 1967 - but the morning of Tom and Mica’s big day dawned without a cloud in the sky - perfect for their Covid-resitrictions-impacted wedding to be pretty much outside, bar the ceremony and food.
And what a setting for their ceremony - Redhouse Barn has a beautiful red-brick lined barn room, with two huge glass doors giving light and fresh air. A rose petal lined aisle gave way to a petal heart on the floor in front of a table lined with flowers from Hannah Ricci at Bloom Fleuriste - with this seasons hot feature - pampas grass.
Dressed in a suit from Slaters, Tom waited patiently, and not that nervously, knowing his gorgeous bride, Mica would be walked down the aisle by her dad. Her dress was ‘Henrietta’ (in Ivory) from Grace and Lace Bridal in Chelmsford and she had a bouquet, again from Bloom Fleuriste.
A perfect ceremony was puncuated by their son, Jack, making himself heard - rightfully wanting to be part of their moment - and then it was outside into the sun for drinks and catering by Morgans.
Hugging, talking, sharing the moment, Tom and Micas guests - limited to 30, but certainly making up for it with enthusiasm and fun spent the rest of the day together. When they came to their cake (made by Karen Taylor at Cakes by Karen) they quickly sliced into that and set about their first dance - something that I know they were a bit nervous about.
And one of my favourite songs came on - David Gray’s “This Year’s Love”. What a song, and whilst snapping their first dance moves, I listened to the first few lines of the song, and thought that it was poignant, not just for their first dance, but also as the first dance of this year’s wedding season.
This year's love had better last
Heaven knows it's high time
I've been waiting on my own
Too long
And those words were never more true. This years weddings had gotten off to the best start for me possible, and after the nightmare of Covid, with the stress, the lockdowns, the delays, the restrictions, the rules, the laws, the doubt, the uncertainty…they better be allowed to continue and carry on and last for the rest of my couples - and me - because heaven knows, it’s high time.
But we are back. Dammit we are back and I love it!
Congratulations to Tom and Mica on their wedding, and thank you for letting me be a part of it - it was a fantastic honour to share the time with your family and friends. Other suppliers involved were Mica’s Hair by Ruth Talbot (CotswoldWeddingDay.co.uk) and make up by the fantastic Amy Laney Make-up Artist.
